An Overview of Aluminum Foil Strip

Aluminum strip foil is a kind of rolled aluminum material. Aluminum products with a thickness of less than 0.2mm are usually called aluminum foil. Usually, the edges are slit and delivered in rolls. Aluminum foil strip is a soft metal film, which not only has the advantages of moisture-proof, air-tight, light-shielding, abrasion-resistant, fragrance preserving, non-toxic and tasteless, but also because it is easy to be printed with patterns and colors.

First of all, according to the thickness, aluminum foil can be divided into double zero foil, single zero foil and thick foil. Double zero foil refers to a foil with two zeros after the decimal point when its thickness is measured in mm (that is, thickness <0.01mm); similarly, single zero foil refers to a foil with a zero after the decimal point when the measurement unit is mm foil (0.01mm≤thickness＜0.1mm); thick foil refers to aluminum foil with a thickness between 0.1mm and 0.2mm.

Different end application products will have different thickness requirements. Generally speaking, double-zero foil is mainly used for food packaging, cigarette packaging, electronic light foil, etc.; single zero foil is used for some food packaging, pharmaceutical packaging, electronic circuit signal shielding, air-conditioning foil, etc.; thick foil is mainly used for air-conditioning foil, container foil, architectural decoration and industrial uses.

According to the alloys, it can be divided into: 1xxx-industrial pure aluminum; 2xxx-aluminum copper alloy; 3xxx-aluminum manganese alloy;4xxx-aluminum silicon alloy; 5xxx-aluminum magnesium alloy; 6xxx- aluminum-magnesium-silicon alloy;7xxx- aluminum-zinc-magnesium-copper alloys; 8xxx- other alloys. The commonly used alloy grades are 1050, 1060, 1070, 1100, 3003, 3004, 5005, 5052, 8011, etc.

The most commonly used aluminum foil is industrial pure aluminum, which contains more than 99.0% aluminum, has strong electrical conductivity, good formability, corrosion resistance, low strength, and cannot be strengthened by heat treatment. 3xxx and 8xxx aluminum foil is also very popular.
