What is AA3005

AA3005 is a typical Al-Mn non-heat-treatable aluminum alloy, which has good formability, corrosion resistance, thermal conductivity and reflection performance, and is widely used in packaging materials, heat exchange materials, building materials and other fields. The strength of 3005 aluminum is about 20% higher than that of 3003 aluminum strip, and its corrosion resistance is also better.

Applications

Roof panel: 3005 aluminum is generally recognized as a roof and exterior wall material with a design service life of more than 50 years due to its moderate structural strength, weather resistance, stain resistance, and easy bending and welding processing.

Rolling shutters: Haomei 3005 color coated aluminum strip is corrosion resistant, wear resistant and no color fading. It has a perfect finish. There are two surface treatments: one is with a painted or galvanized color finish, and the other is with a chrome-free pre-treatment including two coats of paint. The thickness is 0.38-0.45 mm and the width is 30-150 mm.

Heat insulation: It usually chooses 1100 and 1060 aluminum coil. n order to achieve beautiful appearance and longer service life, 3005 aluminum strip roll is a good choice.

Main tempers

3005-H12: It is strain hardened to a strength that is roughly a quarter of the way between annealed (O) and full-hard (H18).

3005-H14: It is strain hardened to a strength that is roughly halfway between annealed (O) and full-hard (H18).

3005-H18: It is the strongest temper normally produced through the action of only strain hardening.

3005-O: It is 3005 aluminum strip in the annealed condition. It has the lowest strength and highest ductility compared to the other tempers of 3005 alloy.

Manufacturing process

3005 aluminium strip is usually produced by hot rolling. The hot rolled billet is cast from liquid aluminum into a large slab. After surface milling y a large milling machine, oxides and impurities on the surface of the large slab are removed, and then it enters the furnace for heating. After coming out of the furnace, rolling is carried out under the condition of exceeding the recrystallization temperature.

The hot rolling method has the advantages of large deformation, fine billet structure, good mechanical properties, and high production efficiency. However, the hot rolling production line has disadvantages such as large investment, long construction period, high production cost, and high energy consumption.

The continuous casting and rolling process is to guide the molten aluminum into the roll gap formed between two rolls through a set of devices, and obtain the casting billet after cooling and deformation of the two rolls. The production of aluminum strips by continuous casting and rolling has the advantages of less investment, quick results, and easy operation. However, the production of high-alloy strips by casting-rolling has its own technical difficulties, and has many shortcomings compared with hot-rolled blanks in terms of internal structure, surface quality, and mechanical properties.
